Good walk with kids 4 & 6. So far only the 5.3 mile trail. Seed ticks were pretty bad without spraying repellent prior to hike.
This is a relatively rugged 8.2 mile loop trail. It brings you to cliffs overlooking the Missouri River and through creeks and stream beds. It's beautiful any time of the year. Close to STL so highly recommend for a good length hike for those not looking to drive too far. Dogs are welcome on leashes. I did this with my dog in about 3 hrs, but we hike pretty fast so be sure to plan ahead, bring plenty of water and keep in mind how early it gets darks depending on what time of year you're going. I saw some younger girls in the middle of this trail wearing flip flops with no water, not the smartest idea. Be prepared.
